Army Ranger With Brockton Ties Dies In Syria
Spc. Etienne J. Murphy, 22, of Loganville, Georgia, died May 26, in Al-Hasakah, Syria.

BROCKTON, MA — An army ranger with ties to Brockton has died while overseas on active duty.
Spc. Etienne J. Murphy, 22, of Loganville, Georgia, died May 26, in Al-Hasakah, Syria, of injuries sustained during a vehicle rollover related incident. The incident is under investigation, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Murphy was assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. He was born in Boston and spent some of his childhood in Brockton, according to WBZ.
