Community leader Ollie Spears <a href="http://959watd.com/blog/2016/07/brockton-residents-rally-against-police-brutality/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">told WATD</a> that the residents gathered as a response to the deaths which took place during police incidents in Louisiana and Minnesota. The event was planned before a sniper killed five officers in Dallas. Spears said they need the police but they don't want officers to abuse or disrespect citizens. A second rally was scheduled for Sunday.
