Brockton Felon Banned From Posessing Gun Had Pistol: Investigators
Douglas Norris was indicted Thursday in federal court in Boston on firearm and drug charges.

BOSTON — A Brockton man was indicted Thursday in federal court in Boston on firearm and drug charges.
Douglas Norris, 38, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Norris is prohibited from possessing a firearm based on a prior 2005 conviction, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
On June 20, 2017, law enforcement officers recovered a backpack containing bags of cocaine/cocaine base, various rounds of ammunition and a loaded 9 mm pistol during a search of Norris' home.

The charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition provides for a sentence of no greater than 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000. The charge of possession with intent to distribute cocaine provides for a sentence of no greater than 20 in prison, a minimum of three years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of $1 million.
