Brockton Fire Officials Respond To Overturned Excavator
The machine fell approximately 10 feet into a ditch.
BROCKTON, MA — Brockton fire officials responded to the scene of an overturned excavator Tuesday evening after the construction equipment fell approximately 10 feet into a large ditch.
The incident took place near the intersection of Nilson and Laureston Streets, where a home on Nilson St. burned down in June. The ditch was the beginning of a foundation for a new structure.
The operator of the excavator fled the scene, according to a Brockton Fire Department Twitter post.

Some oil and gas leaked out of the excavator following the crash. The damage is expected to be evaluated by environmental inspectors Wednesday.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no further information has been released at this time.
