BROCKTON, MA — Brockton firefighters responded to a fire at the Academy Inn rooming house at 162 Warren Ave. on Thursday.
The fire began on the third floor around 2:30 p.m.
Officials said the cause of the fire is believed to be the careless disposal of smoking material, according to a Twitter post from the Brockton Fire Department.
