Brockton Man Arrested Following Chase In Abington, Whitman
Robert Gregory Westland Jr., 30, of Brockton, was arraigned in Brockton District Court Tuesday morning.

BROCKTON, MA — The suspect in a police search across Abington and Whitman Monday night appeared in court Tuesday. While attempting to hid is face from cameras, Robert Gregory Westland Jr., 30, of Brockton, was arraigned in Brockton District Court and ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing, according to the Enterprise. He turned himself in Tuesday morning.
Police say Westland was picked up in Quincy on Sunday by the victim and when they returned home, an intoxicated Westland allegedly became aggressive. His mother said that she locked herself in her room because her son broke the phone when she tried to call police.
She later told police that on Monday, Westland forced her at knife-point to drive the two of them and continued to make threats during the drive. Westland fled following a car crash.

The search for Westland began after a car he reportedly stole was spotted at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital Monday night. Police chased the vehicle towards Abington, and Westland was able to flee police.
The hearing is scheduled for Friday.
