Brockton Man Arrested in Route 1 Motel Shooting Case

SHARON, MA — Police have made an arrest in connection to a Dec. 1 shooting at the Econo Lodge on Route 1.

Nicky Gomes Jr., 24 of Brockton, was arrested Sunday night by Brockton police on a Sharon police warrant and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to murder, carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and possession of ammunition without an firearms identification card.

Last Thursday, police responded to a report of gunshots at the motel on the Sharon-Walpole line.Upon arrival, Sharon police determined that several rounds were fired outside of the motel. Police confirmed that a gun has been recovered in a nearby neighborhood.

Gomes is scheduled to be arraigned in Stoughton District Court Monday.
