Brockton Man Charged with 4th OUI After Crashing Into Police Cruiser

William Shea was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

WEST BRIDGEWATER, MA — A Brockton man faces charges after crashing into a police cruiser while drunk.

William Shea, 56, of Brockton, faces his fourth drunken driving charge and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. He was arrested Monday night.

At about 9:15 p.m., Shea allegedly drove into a police cruiser on Route 106, WHDH reports. The officer, identified as Sargent Jonathan Craven, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. West Bridgewater police say Craven has been released from the hospital.

Shea was taken into custody after failing several field sobriety tests.

Shea was arraigned in Brockton District Court Tuesday morning and ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
