After a seven-day trial, a Plymouth County jury deliberated three days before finding Dominic Tassy, 32, guilty of second-degree murder and witness intimidation. Brockton Superior Court Judge Richard Chin sentenced Tassy to serve life in prison and will be parole eligible in 15 years. The Commonwealth had recommended that Tassy serve life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years, and 8-10 years to run concurrent with the life sentence.
Tassy had been indicted on a charge of murder in the first degree. The jury found him not guilty of two counts of armed assault with intent to rob, unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun, unlawful possession of ammunition without an FID card and assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

At approximately 5:19 p.m. on Aug. 10, 2012, Brockton police responded to a report of a man shot on Perkins Street. Upon arrival, they found the victim, 36-year-old Lonnie Robinson, slumped in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in the driveway of an apartment building on Perkins Street with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a Brockton Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A State Police investigation revealed that while the victim, Robinson, and another man sat parked in a Chevy Impala in the driveway, Tassy and Jerome Almonor pulled into the driveway behind them. Almonor and Tassy exited the vehicle and entered the apartment building. They were seen a short time later exiting the building where Almonor, armed with a shotgun, approached the driver’s side door of the Chevy Impala. A verbal altercation ensued, which resulted in Almonor removing a shotgun from his pants and shooting Mr. Robinson in the chest while he was seated in the car. A witness later told police that Tassy complained that Almonor was taking too long to shoot the victim. Tassy was arrested that day by police.
Almonor will go to trial later in the year on charges in the case
