BROCKTON, MA — A Brockton man has been taken into custody after evading authorities for a month following an indictment by a grand jury in connection with a deadly August shooting in Quincy, the Norfolk District Attorney's Office announced Monday.

Dante Clarke, 23, of Brockton, was indicted along with six other Massachusetts men in December on murder and assault charges in connection with the Aug. 18 shooting of Jordan Wiggins in the parking lot of his Quincy apartment, the district attorney's office previously announced.

At the time, Clarke and three other men were still at large.

In September, before Clarke was identified as a suspect in Wiggins' death, he was arrested after being accused of assault and battery on a police officer involved in the investigation, the district attorney said. He pleaded not guilty to that charge in Quincy District Court at a Sept. 12 arraignment but failed to appear at his Oct. 3 pre-trial conference, the district attorney added.

Clarke was taken into custody at a Wareham hotel and will be taken to the Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham for arraignment Monday at 2 p.m., the district attorney said.
