Brockton Men Charged With Possessing Loaded Gun, Crack Cocaine

A months-long investigation has led to the arrest of two people
Edward Vasquez and Dennis Afonso were taken into custody by the Brockton Police Department Wednesday night.
Crack cocaine, a loaded cobra .380 handgun and a digital scale were amongst the items confiscated during the arrests, according to Mayor Bill Carpenter.

The Enterprise reports that the arrest took place during a traffic stop by officers conducting surveillance at the Parmenter Playground at the end of Oakland Place.
Afonso charged with charged with illegally possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, felon in possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, a subsequent offense of possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance, drug violation near a park, and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Vasquez was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
