Brockton School Leads State With Most Days Lost to Discipline
Students at the Frederick Douglass Academy lost an average of 515 days of instruction for every 100 students.

BROCKTON, MA — A school in Brockton leads the state when it comes to days missed due to discipline.
Students at the Frederick Douglass Academy, formerly known as B.B. Russell Alternative School, lost an average of 515 days of instruction for every 100 students, according to the Enterprise. The figure is 109 more days than the next highest school.
About one-third of the missed days were for minor misbehavior.

The school district's deputy superintendent said they are being penalized for not giving up on students charged with felonies, who receive long-term suspensions.
Brockton Champion High School is seventh in the state with 208 days missed per 100 students. Goddard Alternative School in Brockton is 13th with 67 days per 100 students.
