Brockton Teen on Bike Struck, Killed by SUV

Madio Djalo was pronounced dead at the scene.

BROCKTON, MA — A 14-year-old boy is dead after getting hit by a SUV while riding his bike.

At 6:42 p.m. Tuesday night, police were called to just south of the intersection of Main and Plain Streets for a boy who was struck. The boy, who has been identified as Madio Djalo, was pronounced dead at the scene, reports said.

“Everything I’ve heard about the young man this morning was just that he was a wonderful young man, excellent student, model citizen,” Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter told WHDH.

Police are investigating the incident and are looking into the possibility that a second vehicle was somehow involved.

The driver is shaken up but is cooperating, police said.

Grief counselor teams will spend the day at the high school, where Djalo attended and and the elementary and junior high school were he has siblings.
