BROCKTON, MA — A Brockton teen has been indicted on charges related to the murder of his mother.
The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday that a grand jury has returned an indictment against 19-year-old Frantz Polynice. He will be arraigned in Brockton Superior Court on two counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and murder.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2016, Brockton Police received a 911 call from resident on Merritt Avenue on behalf of a woman who had appeared at her door hysterical and only spoke Haitian Creole, according to the D.A.'s office.

The woman motioned for the neighbor to follow her back to 34 Merritt Ave., where they entered a side door to the kitchen. As they entered the kitchen, Polynice allegedly came out of the living room and approached the women while wielding a knife. The women ran from the house and stood in the street and Polynice exited the house and sat on the porch steps until emergency personnel arrived.
At the scene, Brockton police and emergency medical personnel found Polynice's mother, 44-year-old Mania Menieda lying on the living room floor with multiple stab wounds. She was transported to Signature Hospital in Brockton where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators interviewed family members who reported that Polynice had refused to eat or drink in the days before the murder. Investigators also learned that Meneida had attempted to get him help and return him to live with an aunt in Haiti but he refused. Meneida was attempting to get Polynice to eat a meal that day when he turned on his mother with the knife. An autopsy revealed that Polynice stabbed Meneida numerous times about the head and face and upper torso.
Polynice's arraignment has not been scheduled
