Brockton Woman Charged in Bridgewater Crash

Two people on a motorcycle were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

BROCKTON, MA — A Brockton woman has been charged in connection to a motorcycle crash in Bridgewater.

Violanta Andrade, 43, will be summons to court and charged with failing to grant the right of way and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with personal injury, according to the Bridgewater Police Department.

On July 24, just before 8 p.m., the Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments responded to several 911 calls for a crash involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Bedford Street and Winter Place Plaza. Upon arrival to the scene, Bridgewater Police and paramedics located the driver and passenger of a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle who suffered serious injuries. Police learned that the motorcycle, in an effort to avoid colliding with a vehicle that pulled out in front of it, swerved off the roadway and struck a tree.

After reviewing video surveillance from the area of the crash, police began an active search for a red, four door sedan, likely a Honda Civic, that was believed to have caused the crash.

During a traffic stop Thursday night, Bridgewater Police determined that the driver, Andrade, was the suspect in Sunday's crash.
