Brockton Woman Lied About Driver in Car Crash: Police
Veronica Copeland said she crashed into a pole, but that's not what witnesses told police.

BROCKTON, MA – A Brockton woman may have told police that she crashed into a pole to avoid a collision with a car that cut her off but witnesses say that's not the case.
Police tell the Enterprise that a witness to the crash said it was a man who crashed the car into the pole and then walked away. When he returned, he was with Veronica Copeland, 53, of Brockton, who took the blame for the crash.
Copeland told police that she struck the pole in an attempt to avoid a collision at the intersection of Center and Lyman Streets. She has been issued a summons and charged with reporting a false crime and obstruction of justice.
