Brockton Woman Wins Harvard Pilgrim Employee Recognition Award

Shatyra Byson has been recognized for her volunteer service to the community.

BROCKTON, MA—A Brockton woman has been honored by the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation for her volunteer efforts in the community.

Shatyra Byson, a Sales Representative for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, received the award at the foundation's 11th annual Community Spirit Awards virtual celebration.

"While Shatyra is not a manager in the traditional sense, she goes above and beyond managing the Black Leaders Forum (BLF) Employee Resource Group," says an excerpt from her nomination form.

"As the BLF Chairperson, Shatyra promotes and manages professional opportunities that develop and engage Harvard Pilgrim employees," it continues. "She has built a relationship with Father Bill's and coordinated onsite volunteer opportunities that build relationships with communities who serve the underprivileged."

In honor of Byson's award, the foundation is donating a $250 grant to Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro South.

“As we celebrate our Community Spirit Awards, I am proud to once again honor an incredible. group of people who are dedicated to serving our community,” said Henny Mulatre, Manager of Harvard Pilgrim Foundation’s Employee Service and Giving program, in a statement. “Especially throughout this past year, volunteers are going above and beyond to help care for their neighbors, and we are honored to acknowledge these employees and nonprofits who exemplify the spirit of volunteerism and inspire us all.”

The Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, created in 1980, seeks to improve health care and build healthy communities throughout Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. It has awarded approximately $155 million in funds and resources since its inception.
