Champion Plan Encourages Addicts in Brockton to Seek Help
The plan was announced by city officials Wednesday.

BROCKTON, MA — As part of an effort to fight the opioid crisis, officials in Brockton are asking addicts to come to the police for help, without fear of getting arrested.
Called the Champion Plan, according to the Boston Globe, addicts will be taken to a safe place by a voluenteer and helped through detox. The plan is modeled after the Gloucester program known as the Angel Program.
Brockton has been hit hard by the crisis. Last year, there were 123 deaths attributed to drug use, up from 69 in 2014.
