Driver Charged In Crash That Killed Isaias Caban

Jesus Alvarez Coreano​, 19, pleaded not guilty in Brockton District Court to motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation.

BROCKTON, MA — The man who was allegedly behind the wheel in the crash that killed a Brockton teenager appeared in court Friday.

Jesus Alvarez Coreano, 19, pleaded not guilty in Brockton District Court to motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding. Bail was not requested but Coreano must not drive during the case, have any contact with the victims or their families, wear a GPS bracelet, and stay home between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., according to the Enterprise.

On April 18, police responded to a report of a vehicle that struck a tree on Summer Street. Isaias Caban, one passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene.Caban was on his way home from baseball practice, authorities say.

It is alleged that Coreano was traveling around 65-70 mph and attempted to avoid a pothole. That is when he allegedly lost control and crashed into a tree.

Coreano is due back in court July 10.
