Drunk Driver Hits 7 Parked Cars In Brockton: PD

Witnesses told police the truck hit six cars, tried driving away, then hit another, getting stuck on top while still in gear.

BROCKTON, MA — An East Bridgewater man faces charges after police said he drove drunk in a city parking lot, hit seven parked cars and sent himself to the hospital.

Barry Morse, 61, was charged Tuesday afternoon with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and a marked-lanes violation.

Around 4 p.m., police were called to a Brockton Parking Authority lot between L Street and Frederick Douglass Avenue because of a crash. Police told the Brockton Enterprise they found a red pick-up truck resting on top of a car Morse hit. The truck was still in gear. Witnesses told police the truck hit six cars, tried driving away, then hit another, getting stuck on top.

“The driver was under the influence of alcohol when he drove onto the curb on L Street, hit a tree, hit the rear of a parked vehicle, hit a fence and then hit six more vehicles,” police spokesman Darren Duarte told the Enterprise.

Morse was transported to Brockton Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
