David Grindle was arraigned Tuesday and arraigned Wednesday morning.

BROCKTON, MA — An East Bridgewater high school student faces rape charges in Brockton District Court.

David Grindle, 18, was arrested Tuesday and arraigned Wednesday morning. He is charged with charged with rape of a child with force and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over.

He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held on $5,000 bail, according to the Enterprise. He was ordered to wear a GPS device and stay away from the victim if he makes bail.

Police say the victim, a 14-year-old girl, is the same person who was allegedly raped in by a Level 3 sex offender in a Whitman cemetery on Oct. 17.

The victim told police that she was at Grindel's house with her brothers on the last day of school. Grindel allegedly told the victim to come with him to another area behind his house and began to kiss her. When he said he wanted to have sex, she replied that she wasn't ready, Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney Christopher Veale said in court.

At one point, Grindle allegedly forced himself on her and raped her.

The victim's brothers were made aware of the incident and confronted Grindel and his father but didn't file a criminal complaint because they didn't know if it was forced and were worried that they could be evicted from their home.

Grindle's attorney, Andrew Bloom, asked the court to consider that she only reported the incident under the stress of another rape and no one else aware of it reported it.

Grindel is due back in court on Nov. 18.
