Homeless Woman's Service Dog Killed by State Police Cruiser

Erica Almeciga said her dog Dayshia was hit on Route 24.

BROCKTON, MA — A homeless woman's service dog died Thursday after getting hit by a state police cruiser.

Erica Almeciga said her dog Dayshia was hit on Route 24. According to the Enterprise. The 36-year-old currently lives in the Westgate Hotel with her boyfriend.

Almeciga said she suffers from POT syndrome, which increases her heart rate and left her permanently disabled.

According to Almeciga, Dayshia got out through a large opening in a chain link fence.
