Laptop Battery Explodes Inside Brockton Home

No one was injured, but the explosion did cause small fires across the home.

BROCKTON, MA — Firefighters dealt with several small fires and a burned hole through a coffee table inside a Brockton home on Carl Avenue, all thanks to a laptop battery that exploded.

Rodney and Carol Johnson of Brockton told WCVB that the battery exploded after two hours of charging. The battery was purchased online for $11.32.

Flying pieces of the battery spread the fire across the home. The State Department of Fire Services is investigating whether there's a problem with brand battery.
