Man Killed After Running Onto Mass Pike: Police
The 49-year-old man was hit by an SUV driven by a Brockton woman and a semitrailer.
BLANDFORD, MA — A Pittsfield man was killed Friday night after he ran into traffic along the Mass Pike west of Springfield.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes in Blandord. Harry Young, 49, was a passenger in a car driven by a Becket woman. When she pulled over in the breakdown lane, Young got out of the car and ran into traffic, police said.
He was first hit by a 26-year-old woman from Brockton, and then by a semitrailer driven by a New York man. Young died at the scene.

As of Saturday morning, state police were still investigating why Young ran into traffic. Police have not yet filed any criminal charges.
