New Bedford Man Killed in Raynham Crash
Police say a vehicle traveled across all lanes of I-495 North and struck a bridge abutment off the left side of the roadway.

RAYNHAM, MA — A New Bedford man is dead following a car crash on Interstate 495 North.
At about 7 a.m., state police barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash near exit 8 in Raynham. A preliminary police investigation indicates that a Honda Accord in the right travel lane traveled across all lanes and struck a bridge abutment off the left side of the roadway.
The operator and lone occupant, a 37-year-old New Bedford man, was extricated from the vehicle by two off-duty firefighters from Wareham and Attleboro who happened to be traveling in the area, police said. The two firefighters began first aid and resuscitation efforts while awaiting EMS.

The operator was transported to Morton Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police have not released the name of the victim.
