Woman in Bridgewater State Assault Recants Story
The alleged victim told police that she was attacked by a masked man early Friday morning.

BRIDGEWATER, MA — Police at Bridgewater State University were looking for a man who attacked a student early Friday morning, but the victim's story isn't true, a new report says.
The Bridgewater Police Department has confirmed that the woman has recanted her story and admitted that the incident didn't occur.
"We do not believe there is a continuing threat to the community," Police Chief Christoper Delmonte said in a statement. "We have notified Bridgewater State University Police and they working with the reporting party in this case."

The student told police that she was on Summer Street when a masked man approached her, put a bag over her head, and tried to remove her clothes, according a crime alert issued by police. The student said she ran away and police told students at the school to remain on high alert.
