Running Of The Bull: Slaughter House Escape Sends Cops On Chase

A bull had other ideas than the ones planned by the Den Besten Farm slaughterhouse.

BRIDGEWATER, MA — A bull at a local slaughterhouse apparently wanted to live, escaping for a short period of time.

Just before midday Tuesday, Bridgewater Police responded to a call from the Den Besten Farm Slaughterhouse on North Street for a large bull that had broken through area fencing.

At the scene, an officer learned that a bull that had been delivered that morning became agitated, broke through two gates at the facility, and escaped into a wooded area behind the property. Employees reported that the bull was charging at anyone who approached it, according to Bridgewater Police.

The officer and an employee from the farm followed the 2,000-pound bull’s footprints in the snow for about a mile before it was located in the woods. The bull was euthanized and transported back to the slaughterhouse.

The bull was put down before it was able to enter residential or business areas of town. No injuries were reported.
