State Police Charge 2 in Brockton on Drug Charges

Police allegedly found heroin and cocaine inside a car during a traffic stop.

BROCKTON, MA - State police in Brockton arrested two men on drug charges Tuesday night.

At about 10:20 p.m., a trooper observed a 2002 Mercury Sable traveling at a high rate of speed. He pulled the vehicle over on Court Street and following a subsequent investigation, various illegal substances were located inside the vehicle, including what was believed to be cocaine and heroin. Police also found over $6,000 in cash.

The occupants of the vehicle, Laroy Cox, 43, of Plymouth, and Joseph Jean, 32, of Brockton, were arrested. Cox was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of Class A and B drugs with intent to distribute, possession of a Class B drug, drug violation near a school or park, conspiracy to violate drug law, speeding a following too closely.

Jean was charged with trafficking cocaine, possessing cocaine with intent to distribute (subsequent offense), possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute (subsequent offense)m possession of a Class B drug, possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug law, drug violation near a school or park, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Both men were held without bail at the Plymouth County House of Correction pending their arraignment in Brockton District Court.
