Stoughton Man Charged With Punching Worker at Brockton Motel

BROCKTON, MA — A Stoughton man faces charges after allegedly punching an employee at a Motel 6 near the Westgate Mall.

Ekwan D. Steele, 38, was arrested Thursday night and charged with assault and battery and malicious destruction of property over $250, according to the Brockton Police Log.

At 9:21 p.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance at the motel. Officers at the scene found chairs and a computer monitor turned over, according to the Enterprise.

Police learned that the suspect was the same person from an incident a few hours earlier where Steele was allegedly yelling and demanding the return of property staff took. In the second incident, he allegedly went behind the desk in the lobby, punched an employee multiple times, and smashed the victim's cell phone, in addition to damage to chairs and a computer monitor.

Steele was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Brockton District Court.
