Suspect in Brockton High School Parking Lot Rape Arraigned

BROCKTON, MA — A Leominster man accused of raping a girl in the Brockton High School parking lot during school hours was arraigned in Brockton District Court Monday.

Andy Thao, 44, faces one charge of rape. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held on $25,000 cash bail, according to WHDH.

Investigators say the victim and Thao met and exchanged numbers during a family party during the previous week. Texts from the victim show that Thao alleged coerced the victim, sending her many messages telling her to learn how to be a housewife and asking for sex.

Thursday, Thao went to the high school in a borrowed van, but the victim didn't understand they were meeting for sex, the DA's office said. The victim told police that he "did not stop" when they met.

Thao said he has text messages that will prove his innocence.

Brockton school officials said the incident was an isolated one.
