Tire Strikes Car on Route 24, 3 Injured

A stretch of Route 24 was the site of two accidents Sunday, police said.
At about, 4:26 p.m., state police received multiple calls for a crash north of exit 18 in Avon. Police discovered that a wheel came off a Ford pickup driven by a 30-year-old male from Brockton rolled from the southbound side, across the median and into the windshield of a Toyota van on the northbound side.
The driver of the van, a 45-year-old man from Dartmouth suffered a laceration to his head and was transported to Boston Medical Center for treatment, state police said. Two passengers were transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton for treatment. The driver of the Ford pickup, a 30-year-old man from Brockton was not injured.

Then, at approximately 6:12 p.m., police responded to another crash in the same area. Upon arrival, troopers discovered that a chock-block had fallen off of a vehicle, struck a 2007 Toyota Camry, and bounced into the windshield of a 2008 Jeep Patriot. The driver of the Toyota, a 30-year-old man from Hyde Park, was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Jeep, a 27-year-old man from Danvers suffered lacerations to his face and was transported to South Shore Hospital for treatment.
Police say that all the injuries are not life threatening.
