Whitman Man Pleads Guilty to Sexually Assaulting Child
Scott Hebert, 38 Whitman, was scheduled to face trial in Brockton Superior Court Monday, but pleaded guilty Thursday.

BROCKTON, MA — A Whitman man has admitted in court to sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl.
Scott Hebert, 38 Whitman, was scheduled to face trial in Brockton Superior Court Monday, but pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person under the age of 14. Brockton Superior Court Judge Brian Davis sentenced Hebert to 3-4 years in a state prison and 5 years of probation. Hebert must also register as a sex offender, get treatment and stay away and have no contact with the victim, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office.
On May 17, 2014, the victim reported to family members that Hebert sexually assaulted her and Whitman Police were contacted. After an investigation, Whitman Police arrested Hebert on the charges on May 21, 2014, according to the DA's office.
