Woman Charged With Assaulting Person After Attempted Donut Theft
A Brockton woman assaulted a store employee, but not before attempting to take donuts and a honey bun from a store, police said.

BROCKTON, MA — A Brockton woman assaulted a store employee, but not before attempting to take donuts and a honey bun from a store, police said.
Chaquita McKoy, 30, was issued a summons Tuesday night for two counts of assault and battery and shoplifting by concealing merchandise.
At about 7:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a shoplifter at the store. According to a police report obtained by the Enterprise, McKoy was caught putting donuts and a honey bun into her purse and tried to leave without paying.

The clerk, who identified McKoy as someone who attempted to shoplift in the past, prevented her from leaving. McKoy then allegedly pushed the clerk and punched a customer who attempted to help the clerk.
McKoy will be arraigned in& Brockton District Court on a date to be determined.
