Woman Who Fell Asleep At Wheel Saved By Seat Belt

Police called the crash an example of how seat belts save lives.

HANSON, MA — If not for a seat belt, an early morning crash involving a Hanson woman would have been a lot more tragic.

At about 4:19 a.m. Tuesday morning, Hanson police responded to a report of a crash on Indian Head Street. Police say a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling south on the street when the operator fell asleep. The vehicle crossed to the opposite side and struck a pole, coming to rest in the middle of the roadway.

The operator, a 35-year-old Hanson woman, was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. The vehicle suffered extensive front end damage and the pole was snapped in half.
