"The news is true, after 35 years we are closing our doors," the business said in a statement. "It has been a pleasure to serve you, and to be a part of your celebrations. We anticipate that our last day will be July 15."

Party Favors has been part of the Brookline community since 1965, with owners Mary Lynn and John Pergantis purchasing the business in 1992. John, a Brookline High School graduate and Culinary Institute of America alumnus, previously worked at the bakery before the couple took ownership. Over the past three decades, the business became a fixture in Coolidge Corner, known for its custom cakes, pastries and desserts, along with balloons, decorations, invitations, greeting cards and other party supplies for birthdays, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, baby showers and other celebrations.

According to the bakery's website, its kitchen produced award-winning custom cakes for events ranging from small family gatherings to celebrations serving hundreds of guests. In addition to its bakery, Party Favors offered custom cake consultations, wedding and bar and bat mitzvah tastings, local delivery, gourmet chocolates, cookies, French and American-style tortes, seasonal desserts and catering for special occasions.

The business will remain open through its final weeks. According to its website, all décor, plates, napkins, cards and candy are currently 50 percent off, although the sale excludes balloons, birthday candles, and bakery items.

"It has been a pleasure to serve you, and to be a part of your celebrations," the bakery said. "If you have a future order with us, we will be in touch."

The bakery also thanked customers for their support over the years.

"We love hearing from you," Party Favors said on its website. "Thank you for your phone calls, and for sharing your many memories with us."
