Brookline Senior Center Named Regional Chamber's Nonprofit Of The Year

BROOKLINE, MA — The Brookline Senior Center has been recognized as the Charles River Regional Chamber's 2026 Nonprofit of the Year, earning the honor for its longstanding service to older adults and the broader community.

The award was presented during the Chamber's annual Brookline Night celebration, which brought together nearly 200 business and community leaders at the Hilton Garden Inn to recognize organizations and individuals making an impact. The Brookline Senior Center was honored alongside Bar Lunette, Viking Sports, Eureka! Puzzles and Games, and Chobee Hoy Award recipient Paul Epstein.

The recognition highlights the Senior Center's decades of work helping older adults remain active, independent, and connected through a wide range of programs and services. Operating alongside the Brookline Council on Aging, the center offers wellness programs, lifelong learning opportunities, social activities, transportation services, nutrition programs, volunteer opportunities, outreach initiatives, and individualized social service support for thousands of residents each year.

"We are deeply honored to be recognized alongside so many outstanding nonprofit organizations serving our community," Brookline Council on Aging and Senior Center Director Emily J. Williams said in a statement. "This nomination reflects the dedication of our staff, volunteers, community partners, donors, and participants who make the Brookline Senior Center a welcoming and vibrant place for all who enter our doors."

Town Administrator Chas Carey also recognized the honor in his July newsletter, calling attention to the Senior Center and Council on Aging's recognition during the Chamber's local awards ceremony. Carey said it was encouraging to see local institutions celebrated at a time when community organizations continue to play an important role in civic life.

The Charles River Regional Chamber expanded into Brookline last year after the former Brookline Chamber of Commerce voted to dissolve and merge with the regional organization. The chamber now represents more than 1,200 businesses and nonprofits across Brookline, Newton, Needham, Watertown and Wellesley while continuing to host Brookline-focused programs and events.

Located at 93 Winchester St., the Brookline Senior Center serves as a hub for residents ages 60 and older, offering programs in health and wellness, arts, education, recreation, and social engagement while connecting older adults with community resources and support services.
