Marilyn MacLeod and Tacey Luongo, Featured Designers at Dover Rug & Home’s “Room From the Rug Up” Design Event
Brookline residents, Marilyn MacLeod of Lee Design, and Tacey Luongo, AIA, of Tacey Designs Architecture, are two of the distinguished designers selected to display a vignette in the ‘Room From the Rug Up’ design event at Dover Rug & Home – offering the largest selection of fine floor coverings and window treatments in New England.
The ‘Room From the Rug Up’ Design event, sponsored by Boston HOME magazine, challenged International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) interior design members from the New England Chapter to design a “room” with the rug as a focal point and inspiration. Dover Rug & Home selected five rugs and corresponding rooms for designers to create vignettes. These vignettes will be showcased in the brand new Dover Rug & Home showroom at 721 Worcester Street (Route 9) in Natick from March 15th through the end of the month. Additionally, throughout the month of March, customers can enter to win one of several rugs being given away as well as a two-hour design consultation from one of the featured designers. Patrons can enter by stopping by anytime during regular business hours from March 15th through March 31st.
Ms. MacLeod’s vignette is “The Bedroom”, featuring a beautiful hand-knotted 100% wool rug woven in Nepal in Tibetan knotting. The neutral grey, beige, white and cream tones are repeated in all the other room elements harmonizing with the contemporary design including the silver lighting fixture and nest round mirror.

Beginning her career in graphic design, Ms. MacLeod gained experience in web design as well, before studying with world-renowned artists in Europe, working side by side with masters who restore the work of Leonardo da Vinci. It is with this skill set that she launched Lee Design, creating custom-designed, handmade wall treatments that grace homes and businesses throughout New England.
Ms. Luongo’s vignette is “The Living Room”, she designed a space with warm, Moroccan textures and colors, harkening an artists’ favorite nook. An architect with more than 30 years of experience designing, solving problems and bringing projects to fruition on schedule, Ms. Luongo has a strong design sense and knowledge of materials. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and is a registered architect in Massachusetts and Washington.
