ARRESTS: Southie Man Busted for OUI
The following information was supplied by the Brookline Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Rory Newman, 25, of Brooklyn, NY, was arrested at 11:03 p.m.
on March 6, and charged with not being duly licensed and cited for failure to
display headlights. Also arrested was Matthew Critchlow, 24, of Dorchester, on two warrants and cited for not wearing a seatbelt, allowing an
unlicensed operator to operate, and possession of less than one ounce of
marijuana. While traveling on Harvard Street, an officer saw a blue Nissan
driving with no headlights. The car was pulled over on Harvard Street. While
speaking with the driver, Newman, the officer allegedly “noticed a strong odor
of marijuana emanating from the vehicle” and saw marijuana on his legs. Newman
was asked for his license and reportedly handed over a New York ID. Since the
passenger, Critchlow, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, his ID was requested too. A check
on him yielded warrants out of Dorchester and Woburn District Courts for forged
credit cards. An inventory search allegedly yielded marijuana and 36 gift cards.
