BMS's Beatles Summer Project Presents the White Album on August 5
Brookline Music School's Beatles Summer Project will recreate & reimagine the Beatles iconic White Album in a performance on August 5.

Now in its fifth summer, Brookline Music School’s Beatles Summer Project will continue its tradition of recreating and reimagining iconic Beatles albums with an abridged version of the White Album. A cast of forty talented vocalists and instrumentalists will come together for the performance on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 11:00am at the historic Coolidge Corner Theatre.
Each year, the Project brings together local musicians of all ages and skill levels to celebrate the Beatles by learning, rehearsing, and performing a featured Beatles album from start to finish. This year’s featured album is the White Album (officially titled The Beatles), which celebrates the 50-year anniversary of its release in November.
John Purcell, Brookline Music School’s Jazz & Rock Ensemble Coordinator and Director of the Beatles Summer Project, is excited to take on the task of presenting the White Album this year. He says that that the venue, the Coolidge Corner Theatre, will provide the perfect “performance space…for ‘unplugged’ renditions of the many songs that were written on acoustic guitars while the Beatles were in Rishikesh, India.” In addition to acoustic numbers, he guarantees that audiences can expect to “rock out” to plenty of plugged-in tunes as part of the fast-paced and visually engaging performance.

Purcell anticipates that the Sunday morning performance time will draw in diverse audience members, including young children. “We hope to give [kids] a…Beatles experience that will help create a new generation of fans for this extraordinary and timeless music,” he says.
Tickets are available for $10 each online at www.coolidge.org/showtimes. Seating is limited, so purchasing tickets in advance is recommended.
