Boston Man Nailed for Speeding

A man who failed to pay a speeding in Connecticut was arrested last week after allegedly speeding on Washington Street in Brookline.

Odaine Williams, 24, of Boston, was arrested at 1:13 a.m. on Feb. 5, and charged with speeding and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license.

According to a Brookline Police arrest report, an officer monitoring traffic around Washington Square saw a Jeep with Pennsylvania plates stopped at a red light on the east bound side of Washington Street. When the light turned green, the Jeep reportedly “accelerated rapidly” while pulling away from the light.

The officer followed the Jeep and allegedly clocked it going between 50 and 55 mph, “well over the posted limit” of 30 mph. 

The Jeep was pulled over at the intersection of Washington Street and Davis Avenue.

The officer spoke to the driver, Williams, who allegedly told the officer “he was unaware that he was traveling at the high rate of speed.”

A check of Williams’ license revealed that his license was revoked for a failure to appear in Connecticut in December 2013.

Other units appeared at the scene as the reporting officer questioned Williams about the ticket. He reportedly said he had a speeding ticket but thought he had time to pay it, according to the report. Williams also reportedly said he knew there was a problem with his license but thought he had a seven-day grace period.

Williams was arrested and his license seized and destroyed.
