Brookline's Sandra Mueller-Dick: Evoking Profound Emotional Responses through Color and Form

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Brookline artist Sandra Mueller-Dick in The Influence of Color.

In the art world, color and form are powerful elements, and when combined in just the right way, they can really make the viewer feel, deep inside, what the artist is trying to say. The abstract expressionist paintings of American artist Sandra Mueller-Dick achieve just this, enticing the viewer right from the start and beckoning them deeper and deeper, until shadows of the self can be seen clearly through the layers of paint and mixed media elements.

Much of the work of Mueller-Dick is inspired by themes commonly found both in figurative subjects and landscapes. Yet when those themes are translated through her art, they become so much more. By integrating color with shape and infusing each piece with pervasive rhythmic patterns, Mueller-Dick is able to reach the viewer in profound and unexpected ways. As she explains, “I try to speak directly to the inner life of my audience, helping them to know and stay in touch with who they are, and to find that which can bring comfort and solace to their lives.” Indeed, Mueller-Dick’s work invites us to go deeper and to come just a little closer to discovering who we really are.

About the Exhibition

An Inner Reflection: In Color

The ten artists in The Influence of Color have each created a unique technique that juxtaposes the use of a colorful palette, featuring a range of exemplary shades, with a variety of materials and textures. The colors on the canvas have infused a natural and overwhelming multidimensional sense of energy and motion into the works that grasp the viewer and beg to have their stories told. Using the most dramatic flourishes, the artwork in this exhibition pulls the viewer deep inside the mind of the artist to experience a new discernment of the self.
