Brookline Cockatoo Captured After 'Terrorizing' Neighborhood

A Brookline cockatoo’s reign of terror has come to a peaceful end.
“Dino”—named for his frightening, dinosaur-like shrieking that spooked a Naples Road neighborhood—was captured after three months of freedom. Over the summer, he escaped his owner’s Pearl Street home; the pair was reunited.

Dino had a penchant for chewing the siding of homes, according to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, which organized several failed attempts to trap the bird.
Rescuers succeeded late last week by using some bird psychology, as cocaktoos are known to be jealous of each other. League members set a trap with a bait bird inside.

“Apparently green with envy, Dino entered the cage and his rogue wanderer days were over,” the league said in a statement.
