Brookline Crime Is Down: Brookline Police
When it comes to total crime reported, including assaults, larceny and burglary the total number of reported crime is down by about 19.

BROOKLINE, MA — Crime in the first half of 2017 is down in Brookline, the police department announced today. When it comes to total crime reported, including assaults, larceny and burglary the total number of reported crime is down by about 19 from the previous year, according to police data.
"The Brookline Police Department is pleased to report that crime in the first half of 2017 is down 4 percent. Violent crime is down 14 percent and property crime is down 1 percent. Brookline is experiencing the lowest level of crime we have seen in over 20 years," police posted to their Facebook page.
However in 2016, there was in increase in rapes, from one to six. This year there have been three rapes reported so far and a number of indecent assaults reported.

There have been no murders in the past several years. In 2016, there were reductions in every crime other than rape when compared to 2015. Robberies were down 33 percent (from 18 to 12), assaults were down 19 percent (from 166 to 135), burglaries were down 52 percent (from 128 to 62), larcenies were down 23 percent (from 602 to 464) and motor vehicle thefts were down 36 percent (from 11 to 7), according to the annual year end review data.
