Brookline Deputy Superintendents Announced
Nicole Gittens and Samuel Zimmerman will join incoming superintendent Andrew Bott's leadership team.

Brookline, MA – Two educators have been selected as deputy superintendents for the incoming Brookline Public Schools administration.
Nicole Gittens will serve as the Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning after 11 years as an administrator in the Boston Public Schools system. Prior to her work as headmaster at the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science and the Urban Science Academy, she was a math teacher at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School and began her career as a student teacher in Brookline.
Gittens will be responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning in grades pre-kindergarten through 12, according to a press release.

Samuel Zimmerman will take on the role of Deputy Superintendent of Student Services, managing special education, health services, guidance, registration, counseling and psychological services for the public school system.
Zimmerman most recently served as the Deputy Director of Specialized Instruction for the New York City Department of Education, where he led the special education team for 251 schools in Brooklyn. He worked in New York City for 15 years as a special education teacher, an administrator of special education and Deputy Network Leader in the New Visions Network 563.

Gittens will begin her tenure July 1, and Zimmerman will join the team August 1.
