Brookline High Joins Season 8 of High School Quiz Show

The Hawks will compete against 15 schools for a shot at the state championship.

BROOKLINE, MA – Brookline High School is one of 16 teams competing in the upcoming season of High School Quiz Show.

The Hawks were selected from a pool of more than 110 schools after landing among the top scorers of an oral quiz at the Super Sunday qualifying event earlier this month.

High School Quiz Show is a 16-team tournament-style academic game show hosted by local TV and radio personality Billy Costa. The weekly show features four rounds of competition, with the question and answer sections varying by stage. Each high school chosen sends a team into the intellectual fracas, a single-elimination bracket that culminates in the state championship.

The Massachusetts champion then heads to the Governor's Cup Challenge, where it takes on the winner of Granite State Challenge, New Hampshire’s high school game show, for interstate bragging rights.

"The depth of knowledge that Massachusetts high school students bring to WGBH impresses me every season," High School Quiz Show host Billy Costa said in a statement. "High School Quiz Show is so much fun to host and to watch. I know that viewers of all ages will get into the spirit of the competition as much as I do."
