Brookline Man Accused Of Secretly Giving Girlfriend Abortion Drug

Officials say the man secretly gave a woman he was dating pregnancy-ending medication under the guise that he was giving her vitamins.

BROOKLINE, MA — A Brookline man is facing multiple charges after being accused of misleading a woman into taking medication to end her pregnancy, the Middlesex District Attorney and police said in a news release Monday night.

Officials say Robert Kawada, 43, secretly gave a woman he was dating pregnancy-ending medication under the guise that he was giving her iron pills and vitamins, according to officials.

After taking the medication, one of which is believed to be Misoprostol, the victim had a miscarriage, officials said.

Kawada was arrested by Watertown police Friday and is facing charges of poisoning, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a pregnant person, and assault and battery on a household or family member.

He will be arraigned in Waltham District Court on Tuesday.
