Brookline Police Say Shoplifter Also Had Warrants, Pills, Heroin, Needles

The following are excerpts from the Brookline police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Brookline police last week charged a local woman with a host of crimes after responding to a shoplifting complaint at a store on Harvard Street.

On Tue., Aug. 26, police responded to the store and found Amanda Sherwood, 24, of Cambridge, detained in the security office for allegedly taking clothes off racks and stuffing them in her purse. A records search showed Sherwood had four warrants for crimes like shoplifting and drug possession.

Officers arrested Sherwood for shoplifting on the spot. During the booking process, police said they found Wellbutrin pills, a bottle cap stuffed with ”what appear(ed) to be heroin residue,” and six needles. She was subsequently charged with drug possession.
