Brookline police took to Twitter Wednesday to gauge the public’s reaction to relaxed traffic restrictions for bicyclists.
Police are debating implementing the “Idaho Stop,” which would allow bicyclists to treat stop signs like yield signs.

Police said about 130 of the tweets were in favor of the Idaho Stop and about 40 were against it.
Police said as of Thursday, there were no changes to the current law in town that bicyclists must stop first at stop signs. They said they will continue to evaluate the possibility of implementing the Idaho Stop.
“Our main concern is safety for all,” police said in a statement.
