Brookline resident Kim Nelson to be honored at Top Women of Law event

Atrius Health is pleased to announce that its Chief Legal Officer, Kim Nelson, will be honored at the 2014 Massachusetts Lawyer’s Weekly Top Women of Law event on October 23, 2014. The event is held annually to recognize women who have made tremendous professional strides and demonstrated great accomplishments in the legal field.

“Kim has played an instrumental part in helping Atrius Health successfully navigate the current healthcare landscape in Massachusetts,” said Marci Sindell, Chief External Affairs Officer for Atrius Health. “We are honored that she has been recognized by Lawyer’s Weekly for her contributions to both the healthcare and legal fields.”

Nelson was named Chief Legal Officer of Atrius Health in April 2010 and has been with the organization and its predecessors for 22 years. In this role, she advises the board of trustees and all levels of management and staff on a broad range of health law and general corporate issues, including governance, regulatory compliance, contracts, employment, licensure issues, network management, accreditation, patient care and professional staff matters.

Prior to becoming Chief Legal Officer, she served as Vice President and General Counsel since September 2000. Previously, Kim was Associate General Counsel and Director of Risk Management at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Assistant General Counsel at Harvard Community Health Plan. Kim began her law career as an associate with a law firm focused primarily on medical malpractice defense and employment law and she is also a nurse. She is an alumna of Suffolk University Law School.

Nelson resides in Brookline, Mass.
