BROOKLINE, MA — The Public Schools of Brookline is encouraging students to get tested for COVID-19 before returning to classes on Monday, Feb. 28.
The district is recommending this testing due to surges in positive COVID-19 cases following Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break this year.
“...we ask that you and your family err on the side of caution, and also be proactive with the physical and mental health of yourself, your family, and others around you,” said Superintendent Linus Guillory in a statement.

Guillory also expressed his support for students and staff that may be struggling with current events as they return from their week-long break.
"We look forward to welcoming everyone back from February Vacation,” said Guillory. "As you return, you may find yourself overwhelmed by the news to catch up on. Disheartening events in Texas and Ukraine can stir up a lot of our emotions within us, particularly if we have a close affinity with either group.”
"I want to express that we see you and your humanity,” he continued. "All of us at PSB are here to support you, both in how you feel in the short term, as well as activism and action in the long term. We encourage you to take especially good care of yourself as we begin the work to reach out and help others.”
